Is Mary your MP?
Mary can only take up issues or concerns on behalf of people who live in her constituency. Strict Parliamentary protocol forbids an MP acting on behalf of another's constituents. How can Mary help?
Mary Macleod is the MP for Chiswick, Brentford, Syon, Isleworth, Osterley, Hounslow Central, Hounslow South and Hounslow Heath and can help and advise her constituents on specific problems. Many people think that their MP can solve all their concerns. Sadly, this is not the case and there are instances where contacting an MP may result in a query taking longer to resolve if the issue in question is not their responsibility.
In many cases involving local issues, your local councillor will be best placed to deal with your issue as they work at the heart of local government on your behalf. To find out who your local councillors are click here and enter your postcode.
What can Mary do?
Mary has already helped hundreds of her constituents with issues where local procedures have failed or problems seem to have no other answer. It is always best to remember that Mary can be a much greater help if you have already tried to raise the issue through whatever other options are avaliable to you, because then she can add her own voice to yours.
There are also many other organisations, such as the Citizen's Advice Bureau, that may be able to help you. Click here for a series of links to helpful organisations which provide advice on various issues.
Finally, Mary must be contacted by the person who is experiencing the problem themselves. If you are concerned on behalf of another person, such as a friend or relative, please encourage them to contact her directly.
Are there any cases where Mary cannot help?
Mary cannot:
- intervene in live court cases;
- offer legal advice;
- settle private disputes with neighbours or employers;
- formally support a planning application; or
- help in family arguments.
