Excellent quality, fast shipment !

Disappointed witb Baker's box, Clear Round cookies are good

Cookies are hard and could be the box wasn't sealed completely. Order was incorrectly filled with all hazelnuts instead of 6 ea hazelnut & cranberry almond. Would be nice if MM team ask for another flavor. Hoping
to share cranberry almond with friends and disappointed, none in the box.

We are sorry to hear that there was a mistake with the contents of the Baker’s Box. We do thank you for taking the time to reach out to us as we value the feedback from all of our valued customers.

For the hardness of the cookies, there has been some delays with the shipping through couriers such as UPS. Cookies are sitting in their trucks for a little longer than normal and the cold temperature may have that kind of effect on the texture of the cookie. We are sorry to hear there was also a mistake with the packing of the flavors. We would like to send you a replacement Baker’s Box to correct that mistake. We will send you the tracking number from the courier once it’s available.

Again we would like to reiterate our apologies for the mistake with the cookie flavors as well as the harder than usual cookies. Please rest assured that our Baker’s Boxes are made to order and are as fresh as they can possibly be. Thank you again for reaching out to us and for your patience and understanding.

Experience Ruined by UPS Delivery

I ordered two boxes of bakers’ dozen cookies from Mary Macleod’s Shortbread for a friend on Dec. 5, 2021 and was notified on Dec. 9 that the order was on the way. I tracked the package daily. At first, it estimated that the package would be delivered by the end of the day on Dec. 13. Then it became the end of the day on Dec. 14. After that, it simply said “The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible.” As these were freshly baked cookies and time sensitive, I became worried when I still got the same message that “The delivery date will be provided as soon as possible” on Dec. 17. When I live-chatted with a UPS customer service representative, however, I was told that the package had been delivered on Dec. 11 at 11:48 and received by the condo concierge even though the website failed to update the record. I immediately contacted my friend, who in turn contacted the concierge and was able to track down the package, 6 days after the “delivery.”

While I’m relieved that the package wasn’t lost, I’m dissatisfied with the UPS delivery. First, why wasn’t my friend notified by UPS that a shipment had been delivered to her? I thought that was the sole purpose of UPS asking the sender to provide the cellphone number of the receiver. Had she been alerted, she would have retrieved the package in a timely manner without the cookies going stale even when the concierge failed to pass on the shipment. Moreover, why didn’t the UPS website update the status of the delivery? If it had, I would have been able to alert my friend of the shipment in a timely manner and avoided the delay caused by the negligent concierge as well as the staleness of the cookies caused by the delay.

I sincerely hope that UPS will make necessary changes in the protocol concerning the procedure of delivery and the technical operation and maintenance of the website in status updates. Otherwise, I recommend that Mary Macleod’s change the courier to ensure a better experience for its customers. It’s unfortunate that my friend didn’t get to taste Mary Macleod’s shortbread at its best and freshest.

We have expressed our concerns to UPS about the delays and issues that have happened during this holiday season. Their scanning of the different stages of delivery has been lacking as they are overwhelmed with the high volume of parcels this year. We have also noticed similar issues with other courier companies that we work with as we don’t use UPS exclusively.

We want to make sure that your loved ones receive proper shortbread cookies so we will ship out two replacement Baker’s Boxes to your friend. Unfortunately at this point it won’t arrive before Christmas because all couriers cannot make that guarantee at this point of the year but we will use Fedex to complete the delivery and at least your friend will be able to enjoy the cookies next week.

We are sorry again to hear about your bad experience with the UPS delivery but we do thank you for reaching out to us as it helps us improve our processes. Once we process the new shipment, we will email you the tracking information. Our apologies again for the delay and inconvenience and we thank you for your patience and understanding.

Our all-butter shortbread cookies are baked to last and can be enjoyed for a long time.   We recommend storing them in an airtight container and out of the light and at room temperature.

Shortbread doesn't like humidity. In the event the cookies get soft, you can pop them in a 300 F oven for 5 mins and they will be as if freshly baked.
